Subject: Prices for club soccer - MD teams
On the boys side my observation is that the professionally coached classic teams are a good medium between travel teams and the free-for-alls that some parent-coached teams can be.
Some parent coached teams may win b/c they may have one kid or two kids who are very good but the team does not look like they are playing soccer. It's kick and run.
When you look at the professionally coached teams they look like they are passing and spacing well and have a strategy.
It depends on your goals and your child's goals but I think there's an obvious hole in the market for these types of teams which is why they are gaining in popularity IME.

From someone who has done Potomac and Bethesda, like others mentioned, Bethesda tends to run several hundred more. But, you get the week of camp (Potomac didn't do that when I was with them) and I have found Bethesda's uniforms to be cheaper than what you have to pay at Potomac. Much better deal at PJ's as opposed to Soccer.com (not to mention ugly) both for Adidas.
I would think twice before joining professionally coached Classic Teams. They are not any better than the typical parent coached Classic Teams at least on the Girls’ teams. Prior to playing travel, my DD played on a parent coached Classic team and they routinely beat paid coached teams. In my humble opinion, if you’re thinking of joining a professional coached Classic team, you might as well join a travel team instead.

At BSC the top team (MLS) is slightly less than lower teams, however the top team is much harder to get on and the travel costs are greater.

Classic team prices vary tremendously depending on the number of practices and whether they have a private coach involved or consulting.
That is low end but I've seen it as high as $300-500 a season so two times that for the year.

Bethesda, Potomac were almost exactly the same when we checked for U13, U11. MSI Academy was slightly less expensive but it really depended on the actual team.

+1 this sounds right for BSC . . . There are price variations by level as you get into U13 on - bc of different leagues. Then the out of pocket from longer travel can also increase.
