If you two cannot agree on the camera angle & it is causing issues in your marriage, then it may be a better idea to just not install the cameras at all.

Cameras are kind of creepy as well as voyeuristic to me.

However later on if you two can agreed on a mutual angle, then by all means work together on it.

Btw, just my own personal opinion but I find it extremely immature that your husband cares THAT much what the neighbors think.

Ugh. My husband is the same way. We are divorcing and it's no fun, but I will be SO HAPPY not to have to deal with dumb sh*t like this anymore!

When my DH initially put up our house cameras the first time he was going to locate them so they were "looking" at people's profile as they stood at the door. I suggested to him then that it might be better to have them facing forward, so it would capture people's full-on faces as well as cars out in front. I told him I thought that's how most people install them - you know, so you can SEE who it is, what kind of car might be out in front of your house/drive and maybe even capture license plates.

He acted pissy when I suggested that and put them up on the side anyway.

Cameras were taken down when we had some soffit work done and he has now reinstalled cameras so they are under/attached to the soffit with lenses FACING our front door, not out! This means they will be able to capture the back of someone's head. No images of them walking up the drive, no approaching the door, no visibility/ID on cars out front, etc.

I cannot tell him this isn't the way they should be pointed without him having a complete melt-down. He does not take criticism AT ALL. No matter how diplomatically I might try to tell him he will literally pout and slam around for hours because I had the nerve to suggest he did not do something right.

We will certainly be able to tell if any perpetrators have a bald spot on the back of their head once they are banging down the front door. I can just imagine the police asking for our footage if a crime is committed - that will be a hoot!
