Aw your post makes me sad. Yeah it can be an age that - as a parent - makes you want to stick forks in your eyeballs sometimes but I actually love teenagers ( not just mine, their friends/peers/classmates) and in many ways it’s been my favorite stretch of parenting.

It is normal what op is feeling. Teens need to work to waste energy or they have temper tantrums. They are worse than toddlers.
Having said that, I also agree that many parents today do not want to see their kids nor take care of them. Poor parents would probably love the opportunity to spend more time with their kids. Rich people only think of themselves. Kids are a nuisance they had just as markers of prescribed success.

Exactly!

And actually, a lot of my friends were only spending one or one and a half hours a day with their kids. One friend of mine only saw her kids for about half an hour in the morning and then maybe got home in time to see them half an hour before bedtime. The nanny fed, bathed, and clothed her kids one hundred percent during the week.

Why she had three kids I do not know. She’s been going crazy during the pandemic. She took her nanny with her to her parents country home and the nanny left after a month or two and she could not deal. She kept posting about how schools and camps needed to open.

One day I was thinking “And this is why 18th century parents sent their teens off to apprentice with other people.” Throughout human history, no one has really wanted to spend this much time with their teenagers. Its unnatrual.

I only have one and I agree with you. I vote for school. Some days are better than others though

They need to go back to school. I’m tired of seeing them. I’m tired of having to debate things, I’m tired of text messages, I’m tired of attitudes, I’m tired of stomping up stairs, I’m just tired.

And I want my head back after it was bit off for asking a simple question.

I’m tired of feeling guilty for being sick of them.
