The Virginia GOP, which gerrymandered Virginia six ways to Sunday, wants oversight now that the Dems are in charge.

I voted no on that.

I'm voting No. I don't like the solution. And, the Rs who have been unfairly drawing boundaries for years in VA shouldn't get a seat at the table yet. Let them stew for a year or two.

I voted no. There's nothing in the new design that would make it less vulnerable to corruption IMO.

It doesn't take re-districting out of the hands of politicians. It just creates a bi-partisan, not non-partisan, commission that steps in when the House of Delegates and Governor cannot agree. Currently if that scenario happens then a non-partisan individual appointed by the Court comes up with the map. In other words, it doesn't do what we all want it to do and it is corruptible.

Rep. Beyer is in favor of it: https://www.insidenova.com/news/election/beyer-redistricting-amendment-is-step-in-right-direction/article_d68f38d6-f8d7-11ea-8932-bba1c20a26f7.html

I think the biggest issue is that it's not the ideal solution that Democrats wanted, so most are urging a no vote. But there's no guarantee that a better solution will come in time for the next redistricting after the 2020 census, so Beyer thinks a yes vote is better than a no vote.

The democratic sample ballot suggested voting NO and I didn't have time to read about it so I went with NO.

LOL ... one yes, one no, and one it depends. No wonder I'm confused!

Nope, it is supported by all the Rs in VA so I'm voting against it.
