I can see that argument for his approach with schools. But the ridiculous comment about restricting Trump's movements seems designed for nothing more than a cheap political shot. Taking shots at Trump is never a bad idea for someone in MC.
He is speaking for his constituents who voted 85% against Trump.
His constituents hating Trump doesn't give him power over federal property or the President. To give a different example, DC provides expanded FMLA relative to Federal benefits. But, Fed workers in DC do not get those benefits because local governments can't make rules that bind the federal government.

No, he's RIGHT.
He is getting ahead of a wave of cases originating from the White House superpreading event, OP.
Elrich and Gayles need to clearly say how dangerous the maskless administration is for our community, because when the second wave comes, they will be able to point to this event and explain how it contributed.
Because of the President's actions, and the hundreds of staffers living in our area who work at the WH and who don't dare wear their mask at work, WE ARE GOING TO GET A SECOND WAVE.
You know what that means. No schools.

And people thought his position on closing private schools was an overreach.
To be clear, I think it is ridiculous that Trump took his joy ride yesterday. But, it is equally ridiculous for a county health officer to believe that he can control the movements of the President, especially on federal property. Basic tenets of federalism make clear that this isn't true.
