Sorry, I was t clear in the above. DS was in-state UVA and lived within walking distance of campus. Actually, they are comparable if you add in cost of living. It’s very expensive to dorm or live in an apartment at UCLA or B erkeley plus you need a car. Our DS lived off campus with four other men and walked to campus ( no car) or took bus. So while the tuition was $16,000 total ( a few thousand above UCLA’s), he really saved by living off campus and doing his own cooking.
