PP here and at the time of testing, the doctor told us they have seen positives in kids who presented exactly like my son, or with no symptoms at all. Statistically, I think it's unlikely that he has Covid but considering that we have to put the lives of everyone in our household on hold until we know, I'm glad they wanted to test.

I've had a crazy headache and sniffles for the past 3 days - which goes away when I remember to take my allergy meds. I think the pollen is pretty high right now. I wouldn't jump to COVID for this.

My daughter (11) had week long cold symptoms of stuffy nose & cough. Got both rapid and PCR test and she was negative. School nurse says a cold is going around. Was able to return to school w negative test.

Call your pediatrician and ask for advice. DCUM is not a reliable source of medical information.

OP here - this was what I was thinking. She had a 12-hour stomach bug this summer and I had the same concerns - when I called her doctor they said that absent other symptoms, she likely had a stomach bug (which is what it was). The doctor said that now that kids are out and about more, they are catching more of the normal stuff. Spread is so low in our area of the city and mask compliance among adults and kids is excellent, so I am thinking "cold" but I don't want to be irresponsible. Glad to hear that in Canada these symptoms are not enough to warrant quarantine - that is helpful info.

Take this FWIW: Where I live in Canada, mild congestion and runny nose as stand alone symptoms do not require missing school or daycare for isolation, or testing before return, if the child does not have other risk factors. It does exclude them from school Until symptoms improve.

I would quarantine.

DD (2 yr old) didn’t sleep well last night and woke up this morning with mild congestion. That’s it. Nothing else. We are pretty strict about safety precautions (no indoor dining, no get together, etc). We do let her go to the playground and she wears a mask most of the time.

Should I assume this is just changing seasons, possible mild cold, etc or do
I need to quarantine her? I wouldn’t even think twice about this before Covid hit, but alas, here we are.
