This. It depends on where you live. In the city, strollers are very effective.

I hate questions about others' behavior asking if it's normal.

That said, I used a sit and stand stroller until my my older daughter was older than I would have expected (although probably not 6). I was using the stroller anyway so it was no big deal for her to hop on when needed.

I assume there are still 5 and 6 year olds in strollers. No, it's not normal. (Frankly, I'm surprised that kids that big even fit in most strollers.) My kid was done with the stroller at three.

Yes it depends how you are using it. For your commute? Than it may be the fastest thing. Whatever works.

But even for a trip to Disney I would not bring a stroller for my 6 year old. She weight 50 lbs, I don't want to push her around!!! So that's us. My little one is about to turn 4 and I think we'll ditch the stroller next spring for sure. We rarely use it as is.

Personally I'd go with a single, and let the older one ride when the little one is walking or being carried. If the 6/7 year old *really* needed it.

Why is this such a thing for people? Who cares if someone puts their 6 year old in a stroller? It affects you in no way whatsoever. Maybe that kid has issues that make that a good solution for the family. Or maybe they are just over accommodating of their kids. I don't know. It's irrelevant to me. My own kid is three and regularly refuses to get in the stroller even if its raining and we're in a hurry, so far be it from me to decide for some other family what the right think is to do.

DP. Eh I live in Manhattan and I wouldn't call it common at all at my school. Most kids that age wouldn't be caught dead in a stroller! They can usually walk the distance to school just fine, and if it's longer, people are usually taking the bus or train. I guess if you had a route that wasn't easily covered by bus or train, I suppose it would make sense, but I really don't see a lot of this.

8 year olds are NOT riding in strollers. Any kid that can ride a two wheel bike is far too old for a stroller (and most kids can ride one way earlier than 8)

It obviously depends on how far she is planning to walk with the kids. My 5yo isn’t usually in a stroller, but we occasionally walk to a few restaurants that are about a mile away. She can scooter there but on the way home she is often tired and it’s dark, so she rides in the stroller home. I wouldn’t go out and buy a double stroller at this point, but we have space for it to hang out in the garage for the 2 times a month we use it. We went to Europe last year with two single strollers, and my oldest (7) would occasionally ride in one while I carried the baby in a carrier.

That could be. Good point. I was just so shocked that she even used a stroller for a 6 year old enough to the point she was considering keeping it for next summer when she was 7! But if she is an NYer maybe this is a normal consideration

I don't think any of my kids were in strollers after about 4 years old. By the time my kids were 6 they walked around the disney parks with me 6 hours per day three days in a row. So I definitely wouldn't stroller them for something mundane like the mall or a park.

Someone just posted in my FB moms group about if she should hold onto her double stroller for next summer- her kids are currently 6 and 2. I was like... are there still 5 and 6 year olds out there in strollers? And people considering using one for an almost 7 year old next summer?
