I have a solo stove on our wood deck. Love it, no issues, and the reviews/advertising all comment on its suitability for such situations. Get the ring for it to stand on, and the spark shield. And don’t be dumb, starting fires if you live in California or doing it on a windy day. We also keep a fire hydrant handy on that level; our deck is on the roof.

A propane fire pit would be about as dangerous as a propane barbecue (that is I’d be comfortable doing it but your development may have rules) but an actual wood fire pit seems dumb?
