Our preschool runs 7 hours per day and requires the kids to wear masks all day except for eating and nap.

Our daycare in Falls Church requires masks for 2 and up all day. They are used to it and it’s not a big deal.

Our preschool in Arlington starts at age 2 and runs on a "daycare" schedule (full day, year round). All children are required to wear masks.

In our military daycare center, every single child over two years old is required to wear a mask. Was a struggle in the beginning, but now my kids put it on like a uniform.

LOL. Bless your heart.

More likely because a little kid can handle wearing a mask for 2-3 hours with multiple snack breaks and outside time breaks better than they could for 8 hours. This doesn't have anything to do with teachers and much more to do than pleasing precious parents such as yourself.

Also daycares typically serve a larger age range than preschools. Our daycare wasn't going to require any masks until parents complained and now everyone over 2 has to- except when eating, napping, and playing outside. So like half the day. It's gotten our 4yo comfortable with a mask and so now it's NBD getting him to wear it for everything else, so I think the requirement is a good teaching tool. I'm not sure it's really making a difference beyond that.

You're the reason daycare teachers get such little respect. Many are well-educated, highly trained and just as "better-off" as preschool teachers and deserve to be protected just as much as anybody else. Young kids have a hard time keeping a mask on all day and likely would trade masks with another child who they think has a "cooler" looking mask. It has nothing to do with the quality of daycare vs preschool. In addition, it's not recommended for children under 2 to wear masks, so there is your actual reason daycares are not requiring masks.

Here is a link to VA Executive Order 63: REQUIREMENT TO WEAR FACE COVERING WHILE INSIDE BUILDINGS

https://www.governor.virginia.gov/media/governorvirginiagov/executive-actions/EO-63-and-Order-Of-Public-Health-Emergency-Five---Requirement-To-Wear-Face-Covering-While-Inside-Buildings.pdf

It applies to "All patrons in the Commonwealth aged ten and over."

I don't know if the City of Alexandria has a requirement for children under 10 to wear a mask.

The current daycare my children go to do not ask any child to wear masks. I know their are 3 year old classrooms in the building and maybe 4. Can anyone point me to the actual requirements? We are in the City of Alexandria.
