In Dutch "witten" means "something that is white". Or, as a verb, "to whiten" something.

"De witte auto" -- the white car.
"We witten de muur" -- we're whitewashing the wall.

I know someone with the last name Whitten. I think it would be a great first name — especially if it’s a family name.

Cowboys tight end (surname). Don't like it as a given name, but I don't like the surname-for-first name thing in general. I guess it's slightly better than the "intentionally macho" surnames like Hunter, Walker, Remington, etc.

Yes I have a friend who named her son this but I think it was spelled Whitten
