Met plenty of developers and engineers who can't write at all. This obsession with writing is misplaced and just leads to kids choosing ridiculous humanities majors in college.

Usually public school kids are ahead in Math. My son started private in 9th and is in the highest math. He is with sophomores. Most of the Freshman in this class are new kids who moved from public school.


My kid skipped ahead in math compared to public when moving to private. I think it depends on the school

Math seems to be fine. DD may be advanced in math, but she was at public school as well. English, and even more do social studies are a much harder adjustment. The amount of writing, and the quality of analysis expected are much higher in private.
