Are you going into the bush, or a campsite by your car? Pack a cooler with hot rice packs, or bring along the breakable toe warmer packs.
For me, this is the definition of miserable

No, not even close if you have decent gear. Dress them in layers, even for bed.

Low 40s during the day or at night? We camped with low 30s at night and we were just too cold. It was sudden drop in temperature with 50s during the day, so I just didn’t plan well enough for night. I had what I thought were good sleeping bags, brought extra covers for the kids, and we were still cold. If it’s low 40s at night, and the daily maximum is warmer, ok, but bring stuff to keep warmer than you think you’ll need.
If it’s low 40s during the day and will be cooler at night, then don’t do it.

Totally fine. Good sleeping bags, everyone in long sleeves and hats. Tents get warmer with everyone in there together. You’ll be good.

They’ll be fine. We done fall camping with our kids at that age and had a great time.

What a bunch of snowflakes. They'll be outside all day, happy and exhausted by bedtime. Bundle up at night, make sure they have warm socks, gloves, and a hat. It will be fabulous.

Don’t do it. It’s possible but won’t be any fun.

If you do go, make sure they have warm hats to wear while they are sleeping. This makes a big difference when you are sleeping in the cold.

It doesn’t sound fun.

I cannot think of anything more miserable.

I have done it. My youngest was actually not even 2. Do you have sub zero sleeping bags? My only worry is you may have trouble keeping your smallest child warm. I would go to a military supply store and get the blankets fir enlisted (wool, green and scratchy) and make sure that is on the bottom of the tent between the tent floor and my sleeping bag.put them both in sleep and play style pajamas made out of warm fleece.

You’d need to cosleep to keep them warm enough.

Yeah, I think it would be uncomfortable for most adults and definitely not fun for kids.

This was supposed to be our first time taking them. We have good sleeping bags, but I'm still worried they will be cold and miserable.
