My son is 7 and we have this issue as well! We bought his shoes a couple sizes bigger than his size by length to get some extra width. We actually bought his shoes in adult size this year because dance shoes run a couple sizes small in general anyway. So adding two sizes for dance shoe smallness and two sizes for some extra width. It worked for us in his jazz sneakers.

Have you gone to a dedicated dance store? As a teen, I worked in one in CT and we fit lots of little wide feet. A reputable dance store that fits dance shoes will usually have experience with a wide (ha) variety of feet. Like a pp has said, Bloch tends to run wider. The stores also might not have what you need in stock but could special order.

Depending on what style other kids wear in the class, could you have a cobbler put taps on street shoes? Maybe call Discount Dance and ask if these are appropriate for boys’ tap shoes? (If the link doesn’t work, just look up “Capezio Teletone Taps”)

Thanks! That's helpful. I was never a dance kid, so don't have experience.

For the other poster about "dealing with it," I hope you were just trolling yesterday and don't have any kids. Wow. Way to make any kid completely uninterested in an activity and give them lifelong foot issues.

Have you gone to a dance store or tried someplace like Capezio or Discount Dance online?

They stuffed their fat little feet in the shoes that are sold and dealt with the uncomfortableness.

My son has flat feet and has never stopped wearing extra wide shoes because of it... he's 7 now.

Dance shoes do not seem to come in wide widths or only come 1x wide. The studio said he could wear clean sneakers for his current class, but he's interested in trying tap... which I imagine actually requires the correct shoes.

If you kid has very wide feet, what did you do?
