Only if it was a small group. A huge bash? No way.

No, we socialize but in small groups (under 10) and only with people we know well.

I’m assuming a big party will attract some people who haven’t been following protocols.

It would depend on who the host was and who I guessed the other attendees to be. I know some people being reasonably cautious and some not being cautious at all. I would not attend a party with the latter group because I know the “outdoor party” would involve kids in and out of the house, not good food service hygiene, etc. One outdoor party I attended, the mom let her son blow out the candles on the cake. Then I had to tell my kids we couldn’t have cake. If I had known, we would have declined.

This. If you attend, you can just leave if people stop social distancing.

I’ve been to a few backyard yard bday parties this summer and they have gone well. Caution was taken and parents as well as kids had a blast

If trick or treating is a no-go in your city or neighborhood, then maybe I would. But there's going to be enough outdoor fun that night that I wouldn't push it.

Also, if DH is against it, I wouldn't push it.

Hell yeah, Halloween is the best holiday. Why wouldn’t I? Will there be booze and gruesome food?

I would not host such a party. Whether or not I would attend such a party is not something I would decide 7 weeks out.

Agree. If my DH said no, then I wouldn’t force it.

I would attend provided there were explicit rules: for example, masks must be worn when going inside to use the bathroom.

We attended a petting zoo preschool birthday party and it was so nice to socialize. It was our first party that we attended since March. I cancelled two of my kids spring birthday parties. My daughter has a winter party and we will likely not have a party for her. I would love to host a Halloween party/play date in our backyard. DH thinks it is a bad idea during the pandemic. At the same time, he would be fine attending another person’s birthday party. I think he just doesn’t want to host.

Would you attend a Halloween or birthday party in a backyard?
