You do realize - we’ll probably not - that our problems stem from not having viable cities with a myriad of diverse employment opportunities - yes ?
And I think the real issue is the 107 bloated small school town governments that are funded by property taxes and the over compensated 4th generation locals in the small town governments sucking on the tit of the taxes paid paid by the retirees and the 1%.

Yes. Also check out Madison and Guilford further west towards New Haven.

My aunt and uncle live there. It's a very quiet town and with reduction of Pfizer, there really aren't many high paying jobs nearby so the town (smartly) is going after retirees.
Schools are good - could be better for CT taxes, but the schools are small. No 2500 student high school.

Connecticut is a good place to raise a family. Old Saybrook is a nice town. Many older CT residents retire there.

I think so!! I had two good friends from college who lived there and it’s absolutely beautiful. Didn’t Katherine Hepburn have a home there too? I think I drove by her house one time.
