OP—I’m shocked to hear that your friend did this with her own baby. Giving ice cream to a baby is the job of the grandmother to do behind the mother’s back.

I wouldn't give a kid that age a bowl of ice cream but I can't see how a spoonful would be a big problem.

It’s fine but make sure to give it slowly to avoid brain freeze.

When to start solids isn’t exact, but current thoughts are that waiting to 6 months is better. You still find plenty of info that’s says 4 months, so not that surprising that someone starts at 4.

U can eat ice cream and have an overall healthy diet, so that bit of info alone isn’t that meaningful. I wouldn’t do it but I don’t think its that big of a deal if overall the kid eats healthy overall and is healthy.

Who cares? It doesn’t hurt baby. It may not be your choice but it’s not harmful. Brace yourself, she may even feed baby honey or peanuts before the first year! Or non organic food!!!

What you are missing is that not everyone parents the same way.

People need to remember that most parents have different ways of doing things. I agree with this poster ☝️. I always tell my kids all families are different and might do things differently.
