yes. I overheard the 3rd grade teacher talking about it, and I was very annoyed. It sounded very propagandistic, and did not place the events into a broader context -- in particular, the war that the US started in response, which killed more civilian soldiers than 9/11.

and honestly - I think the kids have had enough dwelling on bad news lately. I normally don't take this attitude, but I think it would have been fine to just not talk about it this year. My feeling is, if it's not something happening right now, and you're not going to put it in historical context, then you don't need to talk about it at all.

This is why it is important to talk about it at home.

Future generations will never forget if we as parents talk about it every year, in any capacity. The selflessness and heroism displayed by the first responders should be discussed, especially now.

I was happy to hear it was discussed at both my kids' schools.

My middle school student finished her DL class with tons to talk about from today. She mentioned they watched a few clips and had some engaging discussions.

My kids said they watched the same brain pop they’ve watched for the past three years at their APS.

I have no idea, but remember these kids will be learning it in history class. None of them were born yet.

A student in my daughter's class asked why they don’t talk about it. Teacher replied “it was a long time ago”.
She’s a senior. Sad.

We talked about it at home. I didn’t ask either of my kids whether it was discussed in “school,” because I really don’t care right now.
