My grandmother had eight boys until she finally got her girl. She also competed with her sister to see who could have the most kids. This behavior is messed up.
Also, women obsessed with having a girl and men obsessed with having a boy — they are really looking for a mini-me. It’s one thing to think “I think parenting a child the same sex as me would be easier or more straightforward” (tho this is not strictly true), but having kids until you get the sex you want means you’ve got very specific ideas about what your child is going to be like. Well, surprise! That’s not what your child is going to be like. I’m sure you’ll handle the disappointment well.
7:20 here and agree—one and done by choice and didn’t care about gender, just wanted the kid to be healthy. Actually, my husband initially wanted a boy to some extent to “play sports with.” I pointed out that girls can do many sports too, despite not having a penis. Our 9yo girl is actually very athletic so kind of proves that point.
