Not OP. The DC website recommends you carry the credential memo with you whenever you travel out of state as proof that your registration is still valid. Otherwise, you’d probably get ticketed and then would have to travel back to the other jurisdiction later to challenge the ticket.

The one hesitation I’d have about doing that, OP, is that you’ll have only 45 days after the public health emergency ends to take care of it. That means thousands of people flooding DMVs and the online system all at once, so if the website crashes or you have to go in-person for some reason, you could have challenges getting it done in time.

I’m not sure what would happened if pulled over outside of DC with expired registration.

Dc does need money. If you get a ticket for expired registration, the adjudicator is not going to have any sympathy for you trying to game the system.

Hi,
We have two DC cars one one registration and residential parking permit are expiring soon.

It looks like DC has declared all documents valid until 45 days after teh COVID crisi ends.

So, I'm thinking, why pay $115 for registration for this year, it's likely going to last another year at least. And worst case, as soon as it ends, we renew our registration.

Am I missing something (of course DC needs money so maybe there's that)
