They'll know, whether or not they care is another question. You can also go to another dealer out of town. You're dealer will be happy to service the car still- that's where they make most of their profit

They caught a bent frame from an accident. The dealer who bought it did not. Car max is great for cars in good repair, not cars that need work

we traded in a car when the amount of work exceeded the value of the car. The dealer we traded it into never even drove it let alone put it on a life. I'm sure they think they ripped us off on the trade in since we got slightly below blue book. I'm sure it will go to auction and be sold with out getting inspected, whoever eventually inspects it will be disappointed

if you don't get what you want in your deal walk away. Do not let them know you are doing a trade until you negotiate the price of the car.
they will say they have to do xyz to get it ready but in reality they sell it to a wholesaler and never deal with the repairs.

Our 2012 Impreza needs 5k worth of work - replace the AC system and various other fixes. It has 75k miles on it, so I'm really disappointed because I envisioned keeping this car for years. We drive it very little. I think we'll trade it in for another Subaru. I'm assuming the amount of work this car needs will diminish its trade-in value?
