Well that sucks, my DD is killer smart but was only 60% on the NNAT.

It always amazes me how some parents think it is the end all be all. Having had one in AAP and one not, it really is not all that you would think it was cracked up to be. I think 5 th grade was the biggest difference(some more in depth projects). Everything else was not that different. Except for math. And then in MS(at least at Longfellow) Math is the only difference. My kids were on the same team and, except for math, had the exact same assignments and projects. for Language Arts, SS and science. A few papers were due a few days ahead in AAP but that was it. Maybe because all classes at that school are honors anyways….

There is not THAT big a difference between 3rd gen ed and 3rd AAP. Like in high school the difference between honors and academic isn’t that big either. These kids aren’t Little Man Tate going back to learn their colors in gen ed.

They already do this year anyways. We are at a center school( mentioned a lot) and it typically have seven 3rd grade classes. This year there are five classes total. 3 General 2 AAP. And teachers have switched from AAP to General in this school from year to year. Teachers all spend years perfecting their career-it doesn't matter whether they are AAP or general. There is not that much difference in the programs especially in 3rd. 5th grade math is a combo of 5th and 6th grade where kids take the 6th grade sol and 6th grade is the big year when they take 7th grade math.

Hmm. I signed my kid up for the CogAT at GMU. I wonder if including scores will hurt my kid's application.
