My kid is 8 and we live in Moco. I am so happy we signed up for soccer in PG county though. No masks while they are out on the field.

Get the disposable ones. They are no longer in short supply. I find the cloth ones are hot and uncomfortable for long periods, but I honestly forget I am wearing the disposable.

It won’t be as bad as she is imagining it. Maker her try it for one practice before letting her decide.

That's usually the correct answer across any and every subject, but the fall season is starting up in earnest.

Football, hockey and lacrosse all wear stuff that is much more restrictive. Time to parent up. Tell her she is going, she signed up and has made a commitment to the club, coach and her teammates. After one practice she will get the hang of it. It’s not that big of a deal. Everyone else will be doing it.

I’m not forcing her. She says she just wants to play in games outside the county where she won’t have to wear it. I told her I think she owes it to her team to practice with them and not take the easy way out. If she wants to quit the team, we will let her. But she doesn’t want to quit.

How about a neck gaiter?

Op, she needs to build up the ability to do this. So she either gets to enjoy her sport by herself or she builds the skill of mask wearing to play on a team.

You making an ultimatum won’t help her do either.

Let her quit. She can wear a mask or quit, give her the choice.

Where do you live? We are in FFX county and masks are not required. My DD and her team do not wear a mask, but I have seen a couple of girls who choose to and they seem fine.

Maybe ask her to practice at home with mask on. If she really can't, then I think it's fine she sits out this season and try a less risky sport (golf, tennis?).

I’d have her workout with you in the mask several times to see if you can ease her into it. I think this is more a concern as the weather is hot now. As things get colder, she might feel better about having her face partially covered because the colder air is easier to breathe and it will keep her warmer.

I'm sorry to hear this. I hope somebody provides a workable answer for you. It's important that she's out on the field for a number of reasons. Man, I despise MoCo government. What a relief escaping a few years ago...
