Well let’s face it. If you play the majority of parents and kids will not follow the basic rules. Sick kids will play with full knowledge and support of their parents. Look at the Arlington coronavirus thread. Most of the Arlington players and parents are not checking temps before practice and games. Why? They just know better and see no need to check temps. They say it is stupid and does not work. Same with social distancing and wearing mask.

Let’s face it. The players and parents of the teams in two week quarantine are not mad at the players and parents who broke the rules. They are made at the rules and resulting quarantine. I bet the two week quarantine rule will be out the window very soon as clubs crack under pressure of the parents.

Well WTF isn’t the Club checking them?!?!!!

Our Club has been checking every player’s temp before any game or scrimmage...since May!!

They have to line up with masks distanced before taking the field and also have hands squirted with hand sanitizer.

It’s not rocket science and doesn’t take a lot of equipment.

This is not really scalable for rec leagues.

We went through this over the summer when two coaches who had some interaction with a women’s pro team tested positive. They did not coach our boys. All activity was suspended two weeks. We weren’t mad at anybody, though I certainly thought the reaction was overkill. If your kid is out there, you know this might happen. Rules are not going to materially change the risk versus all of the other factors that affect risk outside the soccer field. It is silly to blame anybody or be angry unless the kid knowingly went out there when sick. That’s on the kid and their family. Take some responsibility, folks. Not everything requires fault or blame, and each of us has choices to make in abundance here. You don’t like your outcomes, try making different decisions. For many, the only role that other people play is to contribute to their woes; victories I am sure are due only to their personal talents and efforts. Great to see so many soccer parents who probably did not play too many team sports growing up. That jogger mentality is on full display.

Your kid shouldn’t be playing soccer.

Just have dc wear a mask all the time. No biggie. Most other kids or opponents will not outside moco.

You need to tell us the league. There are some teams playing entirely in Moco and will wear masks and have fewer players on the field. If that makes you more comfortable you should pick one of those clubs.

It's also possible home games in Moco will require masks and away games in Va won't. You could tell the coach you'll only play home games.

Are other parents doing this?

I believe MoCo is the only county that requires wearing a mask during games. Hence, if you team plays on a non-MoCo soccer field, no mask is required.

This leaves you several options. Back out of the team now and wait for a vaccine to be available. Another option is to have your child wear a mask during practices and games. If you do, get him/her the Under Armour or Adidas athletic face masks.
