No. My kid has been in daycare 45 hours a week for the past six months and we wash hands immediately upon getting home (although I feel like that’s a good habit to have pandemic or not) and wash masks nightly, of course, but the clothes off/immediate bath is completely unnecessary.

If I you really feel the need to do that, honestly, I don’t think your kids should be in daycare/preschool at all.

No. Surface transmission is incredibly low risk. Shoes off, wash hands.

No. Unless I was a health worker directly dealing with COVID patients, that is entirely unnecessary. There zero evidence the virus can be transmitted that way.

I'm changing my clothes and washing face/hand/arms really well when I got out but we are rarely going out. For a day care situation, I would give a snack in the car and bathe as soon as I got home.

My husband works in a job where he is exposed to all sorts of nasty things, and carries a weapon. Since my kids were born, the routine has been that he comes home, showers, changes (and locks up the weapon and the ammo in separate safes, but my kids don't know the details of that) and then comes out and gets hugs and kisses etc . . .

This kind of morphed into my kids doing the same thing after school, minus the weapon part of course. So, during noncovid times this lead to the kids coming home from school or afterschool activities, showering and changing before they could have a snack etc . . . It's not a rigid rule, obviously if they had a friend over or something it didn't happen. But it's actually served us really well, to get bathing out of the way, protects school clothes, and now that their tweens and have B.O., I appreciate that showering after an after school practice is automatic.

So, I vote for this regardless of COVID.

No shoes inside. Wash hands soon as we get in. Usually change the pants. We have done this pre covid too. Really cut down on sickness and I just don't like her wearing the same thing at home as in daycare. I change as soon as come home from work too. It's a cultural thing.

No. That’s really overkill.

My kid has been going to preschool during the entire pandemic and hasn’t even been sick, much less with COVID. They’ve had no cases at her center.

No shoes inside (general policy since kids eat things that fall on the floor, etc). Hand washing when you come in (but snack in the car before this on the way home w/o hand washing). Bath every other day instead of 2x a week before. No changing clothes at entry. We are using a nap mat and it only comes home once a week for washing.

My preschooler is going straight into the bath when we get home. Kid needs to take a bath anyway, why not just do it right away?

My kids will start in-person school in a couple of weeks. I do plan to have them put their masks in the wash pile, and change their clothes. It might be overkill, but so be it in these weird times.

No. Hand washing is an important life habit, though. We always wash hands when we enter the house.

I heard from a couple of other parents that they are having the kids change clothes at the door as soon as they get home from daycare. (One said her pediatrician recommended it, so this isn't something she made up.) I don't think this is necessary based on everything I've read about how covid is spread. The articles I read said not to worry about changing clothes and showering when you get home from the grocery store or whatever, so daycare seems similar to me. I DO think daycare is super germy, but I don't think changing clothes will help that much. What say you, DCUM? Should we start doing this?

Also, they are sending nap materials home every day. I will launder the sheets and blanket. Should I wash the pillow every day too? I almost never washed the pillow pre-covid (i washed the pillowcase but not the pillow), but do I need to wash the little pillow now daily too?
