He probably is a little constipated — start having him consume more roughage, maybe hot liquids at breakfast.

Get a squatty-potty. That makes a big difference!

I don't really see what the problem is. My DS is 7 and can take that long. Somedtimes he goes to the bathroom when he first feels like he has to go even if he's not ready. So he ends up just sitting there.

I don't really get what kind of pressure you're referring to. Sitting on a toilet for 15 min isn't putting pressure on their privates. Perhaps you need a different toilet?

+1. It’s part of their DNA. Your son starts young.

So does my husband. He takes forever.

Don't borrow trouble.
Don't make this into an issue, or you can create a bigger problem.
Only intervene if you think he's straining to do it or is a pain, ptherwise let him be.

It's healthier for him to sit and let his body pass stool at its natural pace than to push and strain to hurry the process.

Leave him alone.

Like 15-20 min. I don’t want to rush him but it also seems excessive. He’s not playing. He actually “goes” but it takes that long - strange? I think it’s bad for his body to sit that long with the pressure in their private area. any thoughts/suggestions?
