your kid can wear a mask if they choose. Our team as an EMTs kid on it and he wears a mask while playing. The dad says he thinks it decreases the risk to the rest of the team

Games are starting up. We’re out of the “let’s socially distance” drills stage from the summer. I feel you’re either in or you’re out. At least that’s what I’ve seen on the fields. And if you’re out, maybe better to just wait for spring and re-evaluate. Tough for the kids though because they don’t get to play, and other players are playing their positions over the next season.

you're a free human being. make your own decisions. if you find a club you'd rather play for, go.

I know, I'm asking if your club is making allowances for personal choices about this, and if so, what they are.

What allowances would you expect to either be offered or useful in lieu of full contact?

It might help if you came to the club with a solution yourself. At least then they know you're on board with that accomodation.

My child is playing full contact, but his closest friend on the team is not. I was disappointed to see the options that he was given - not much. The coach had him sit on the sidelines for scrimmages and he did passing drills and rondos with the team. That was it. He was offered the opportunity to scrimmage in goal, but declined it. That made sense to me because contact is still possible.

You stated that you were disappointed with the options...what did you want the coach to do? It's the parents' and kid's choice. I'd be happy that the coach let him sit on the sideline during the scrimmage.

I just feel bad for the kid. I don't think it is the coach's fault. In an email that went out the club oversold what would be done for the kids who could not play contact.

What did the club promise?

Ours is limiting full contact to the last 15 min of practice and players can opt out of that if they want to.

Our club says you can do it it or not. Your choice.

All scrimmages and games have the possibility of full contact. I dont think there is an in between. Either you practice (drills) only or you add scrummaging and games. Are there outside the box options that merge the 2? Im not sure... i think most people are either taking it or leaving it.

"allowing"... you're a free human being, you don't need permission

seasons are going forward, if they aren't comfortable with contact they are opting out of the season. I'm sure the club is fine collecting the check, but the teams need to prepare and eventually play- if they can't/won't are they really on the team

Our team’s practices are 75 minutes...the first hour is distances drilled, and the last 15 minutes are for scrimmages, which are optional.
