If you like smocking- jon jons are the boy equivalent. DS looks so adorable in them. He also wore bubbles before he could walk.

You don't upstanding Tea? What do you not understand about it? The fit, the patterns, the different styles?

I would love to know which stores have girls' clothing that can work for boys too. I am totally serious. I have 3 girls, and I've found the girl's section to be SO overly feminine that I sometimes buy in the boys' section, just for variety.

I don’t like little boys dressed as men, nor do I like Jon Jons over the age of 3. So we try to colorful clothes. No khakis and button downs. Rather, red cords and sweaters, sometimes from the girls section because the colors are cuter.

This kid is still hiccuping into my cervix so I know I’m a long way from him having clothing preferences, but I’m hopeful that “we dress up for church” is successful as a family rule.

I actually put my little guy in dress shorts and smocked items, but I am really traditional. Knee socks and saddle shoes. Not for everybody but I loved having him coordinating with his sisters for things like Christmas, gradations, etc.

Apparently this had no long lasting consequence because he now wears only athleisure and any variety of the latest shoe drop.

Good luck. I had much better luck getting a dress and pretty shoes on my daughter than I ever have getting my son to wear a collared shirt or pants with buttons. But also, many dresses are pretty comfy these days.

I buy some of my son's clothes from the girls section. A lot more fun prints to be found.

My boys wear Ralph Lauren, Boden, Tea, Hanna Andersson, Appaman, Crewcuts, Vineyard Vines, and H&M/Zara. By the time they hit 1st grade there’s a definite switch toward athleisure/Hurley/Volcom. A lot depends on their body type - my stringbean wears tea/crewcuts/H&M, my athletic build wears Hanna, Ralph Lauren, Janie Jack/Gymboree

Ralph Lauren and some Gap for church, wedding, etc clothing.

I have three daughters who wear whatever is cheap and clean from Target and Old Navy 95% of the time, but for church and special occasions I love pretty dresses with smocking, etc. — mostly Boden, but some other brands too. Now I’m having a boy and I have no idea what the comparable option is for boys.

Also, is it just me or is there not a clear “boy” style any more? Little girls have clothes that look like cut-down versions of grown women’s stuff, but also things that read as definitely girlish. For boys, it really seems like aside from overalls there’s nothing that you’d put a little boy in but not a grown man. Or am I off-base? Haven’t spent much time thinking about this.
