Thank you for the thoughtful reply. I’ve owned the GLS already and the new dashboard is what is drawing me to a new one. I find mercedes to be very luxurious inside, and I was surprised that I also really liked the Volvo too. It comes better equipped (leather and heads up display), but just trying to figure out if mercedes is worth the extra $20-$25k.
I’ve driven all of the cars in the class. Did not like the Audi at all, and I’ll never buy another BMW. Volvo quality does worry me.

X5 and Q7 are 15-20k cheaper and the third row is unbelievably cramped.

My experience with the Mercedes was that I was at the dealership constantly for repairs. Never again. I now have an Audi Q7 and will be sticking with Audis.

Why don't you skip the silly ego stuff and status signalling and just get a more practical and efficient mini-van?

Suburban is huge though. I have not seen the new suburban, but if it looks like the new Tahoe, I am not a fan.

They aren't really in the same class. The GLS is safer, larger, drives better, and more expensive than the XC90.
My money would go to the refreshed 2021 Suburban as it's safer and more practical than both, and only slightly more pricey than the XC90.
