I'm waiting on biopsy test results now too. It's useful to hear that they are taking longer- it's been a week of waiting for me and edging closer to my next cycle when we were hoping to try again.

Good luck OP!! My lab results took close to 2 weeks - hoping for a good result for you!! And good they prepared you for the longer turnaround, it’s anxiety producing enough. Mine came back clear and proceeding now with my planned cycle again.

OP here. Got my repeat biopsy today. Did not hurt as badly as the first one, hopefully because the infection was making the tissue more sensitive and that’s resolved now (fingers crossed!). RE said Labcorp is backed up so it could be 2.5 weeks until we get results.

Thanks for these notes and PP sorry that despite treatment and clear results it still was an issue for you. So hard! I’ve been trying to research what else it could be or how to try and prevent recurrence of the inflammation (good point earlier poster!). I’m finding it hard- any pointers on things to inquire about or look into? Sigh. I worry it will come back... but for now hoping to address it any way I can. Inflammation can come from so many sources in the body broadly trying to sort out what specifically can be causing this other than infection.

I had chronic endometritis- treated with 14 days of doxy and follow up biopsy came back clear. However the next transfer still failed and a hysteroscopy showed my lining was super inflamed still. Basically had a D&C to scrape it all away. I think the endometritis was the cause of my failed transfers.. who knows how long I’d had it before it was diagnosed.

As a side note, and just in response to the thread title, not all endometritis is from infection. The suffix "-itis" means inflammation which can be from other causes than infection.

Good luck, PP! I'm just finishing up my antibiotics (cipro and flagyl) and they haven't been as bad as I expected. Fingers crossed for both of us for a clear follow up biopsy!

I just had a similar experience! After lots of testing and failed IVF cycles, this is one of the first items that’s been identified beyond the age issue and agree evidence is mixed but that there seems every reason to address it. Sorry it didn’t get resolved first round but wish you the best. Hearing this makes me glad we are repeating the test to be sure it’s gone. My regimen is 14 days doxycycline with flagelle (a doozy!) as we are about to start our last cycle and this caught us by surprise so trying to keep things moving. Still on the meds... good luck and keep us posted!! I couldn’t believe what I found on this too and that I hadn’t heard more about it...

OP here. I actually already did the doxy and it still showed as positive so I’m doing a second round of new antibiotics. The biopsy was certainly unpleasant, but I think after many failures and losses, I’d rather be safe than sorry.

I haven’t been tested for this but during m my last transfer my RE had me take a course of doxy. I wonder if that was enough to knock out any potential infection? I know doctors would disagree, but I’d rather just take 10 days of doxycycline than have to get a biopsy to see if it’s there.

OP here. Thanks for your stories, they're really encouraging. I wish we would have found this earlier in the process, but it is what it is I guess. DH and I had a talk about next steps (once this is cleared) last night and he's less sure about doing more IUIs. I'm also pretty unenthusiastic about jumping back into treatment, but also feeling like why not give it a shot.

This also happened to me. I did 7 days of doxycycline (we didn't even re-biopsy) and then I got pregnant on my first FET after a failed fresh transfer (and 10 failed IUIs). They also found polyps after my saline sonogram but between the two of those issues...it's pretty clear they were the issues.

Yes had a PGS normal loss. Did extensive immune and clotting testing after. This was the only thing found. Treated with antibiotics and re-biopsied to confirm cleared. Successful pregnancy.

From all of the research I did when diagnosed: Antibiotic teatment is highly effective. And for women who are treated for CE, they actually have a higher pregnancy rate than the general population post-treatment. Which seems to imply if you come back positive, this could very well be your only problem.

It's been 3 years of secondary infertility (first was a long and very difficult delivery), including 3 early miscarriages, IVF cycles with two failed transfers, and 3 additional failed IUIs with multiple follicles each time. Everything, including RPL testing and DNA fragmentation, has come back normal except I just got diagnosed with chronic endometritis. (Not endometriosis.) My RE was clear that it's not a magic bullet, but that it can contribute to implantation failure and recurrent pregnancy loss. Will do the antibiotics then have another biopsy to confirm it's cleared. Anyone have experience with endometritis? Did you have success after treating it? Treat it and still not have success? We're not doing IVF again, but would consider a few more IUIs or medicated TI cycles.
