This! It's such a huge life change, but having maternity leave during the pandemic is also a blessing in disguise (although I know it's hard too b/c you can't see people). Working at home w/ a kid is really really hard.

OP, have you been screen for post partum? Being over your new baby at 6 weeks is pretty abnormal. I had three month of maternity leave and I cried on my way to work every day for the first 6 weeks I was back.

Some Stroller Strides franchises are doing in-person socially distanced classes again. It was great for me when I was on maternity leave. I made some good friends and it got me out of the house every day or two to see other adults. And I got a workout.

I don’t understand. Wouldn’t you be stuck at home regardless, due to the pandemic? I feel like this is the BEST time to be on maternity leave bc there’s no FOMO.

Be glad you got one! Thanks to the pandemic I did not. Went straight back to work so I could help salvage my company.

OP, I’m not yet on maternity leave but I want to give you a hug. I’m guessing it’s not that you’re over your leave but that you are over the long list of things it entails—all consuming childcare, household duties, and sudden social isolation. These are all hard things. I’m sure a regular work day would be lovely at this point! Do you have a partner to talk to about relieving you for a baby break? It also sounds so cliche but maybe a PPD check in too. Sorry, I know I don’t yet have first hand experience but I’ve seen friends and have been mentally thinking what my own leave will be like. Hang in there!

NP. I love my baby and love spending time with my baby but feeling so isolated, especially with covid. I imagined, like, walking to my local coffee shop or having friends over to meet baby. Alas.

Also what is with these jerks coming on here and insisting that maternity leave is some kind of scam to take advantage of employers ? Not just this post, but, like, all posts regarding maternity leave.

Being with a newborn is hard and boring work, but damn. It sounds like you need a little break.

I felt the same way. But then I got over it and found ways to entertain myself. DIY home projects mostly.

Why don’t you go back then? Not snarky.

I've been on maternity leave for a little over six weeks and I'm over it. SO OVER IT.
