Top 50% in his class? Top 25%?

School offering 30 APs doesn't mean students have to take all 30 to be considered top student. Colleges mainly care that you took challenging APs in core areas, not that you racked up weighted grades in periphery ones.

Case Western Reserve University. May offer significant merit aid. All the best.

Ten 10 APs sounds rigorous to me. What about Tufts or Emory? (High matches.)

Perhaps the Five College Consortium in Western MA?

UMass-Amherst would have the size he is looking for; lots of options at the participating schools. His stats are probably good enough for the Commonwealth Honors College.

I think Tulane is a match, too.

Wake Forest
Boston College
University of Miami
Bucknell
SMU (probably a safety, with those stats)

Tufts
BC
Villanova
UT
Lehigh

Smaller than you want but recommend you look at Colgate too, and possibly Bucknell.

At that GPA and SAT I’m not sure that is relevant...

Yeah it is. At a top private, those are Ivy/Williams/Amherst stats.

Clemson and Auburn don't belong on his list with those stats

Hi all,

My DS is having some trouble coming up with match schools for his college list. He has an 3.93 UW gpa, 1570 SAT, average ECs and wants to double major in history/economics. He generally likes medium to larger sized schools (8000 - 30000) with lots of school spirit, happy students and less pressure but doesn’t want move to the west coast. Here are his reach and safety schools:

Notre Dame, Vanderbilt, Tulane

Clemson, Pitt, Auburn

Any suggestions of match schools which would be a good fit? Merit aid would be nice but isn’t required. Thanks in advance for any suggestions or input you can provide.
