my kid is at a small southern (deep south) liberal arts school in a red red state. nothing is normal. weekly testing, masks mandatory indoors and out, no visitors, no going off campus, about 3/4 pf classes online only.

None. Maybe there isn’t a huge testing regime but all have social distancing protocols and restrictions in place.

Lots of small colleges. I know Hampton Sydney is back. Probably lots of small liberal arts colleges.

Most of the University System of Georgia now back.

Same with my DD’s friends small catholic college in NY state. She did not have to get tested at all!

This is pretty common at small colleges. I know of at least one in northern VA opening with no move-in or asymptomatic testing.

Isn’t operating as normal mean 100% of classes in person and all undergraduates able to live on campus? So the only diff would probably be masks and guidance to social distance?

Same with BIL’s small catholic college in Wisconsin. Only testing if you have symptoms.

I don't think there would be any colleges in the US doing that, given mask mandates just about everywhere. Maybe Hawaii? They seem to be operating in an alternate universe, but they also have a controlled border situation, so it figures.

And if any were, don't you think the outcome would be predictable?

Define “operating as normal.”

I am wondering if it is possible to see what happens when COVID is spreading in your community and you DON'T test or contact trace, or prevent students from partying, or require them to wear masks.

Since some people seem to think this is all no big deal, and just a ploy to get Trump ousted... are any colleges in the US just operating as normal? Maybe some in a red state that doesn't believe in science?

I'd be interested to see how they fare.
