Subject: If you could pick the sex of your child/children
I wanted a daughter, so I hoped for a girl first so I wouldn’t worry about disappointment with the second. Got a girl first then never was able to have a second. At this point I’d choose a second girl, but would defer to DH if he wanted a boy. (This was a real conversation during all of the IVF we did.)

If I could choose #of kids and sex and order, I’d have 4 kids: 2 boys followed by 2 girls. But my spouse only wants 2 kids, which we have and we have one son and one daughter. I’m glad we have one of each sex even though I also would have been happy w 2 boys or 2 girls. I agree w a pp that the sex/gender doesn’t matter to me but the personality does. I’m lucky I got two kids who are funny, sweet, thoughtful, smart, creative, interesting people.

In theory, I would pick son and daughter, but I have primarily only seen myself with a daughter(s). I think I only envisioned myself one with a son. But if I picked I think it would go son , then daughter, and I think that is for no other reason than I have an older brother, and it worked out nicely in my family of origin.

I would think doing this would end you up with whatever characteristics you didn't want, since it's so stereotypical - ie, a nonathletic boy or transgender boyish girl. Beware (yes, I know it's not real).

I would have chosen all girls. I have girl/boy now. While having a boy has been lovely and I’m glad I didn’t get my way, still hoping for the 3rd to be a girl!

I always saw myself with girls, but now have boys and wouldn’t have it any other way. So if I had to do it all over again and got to choose, boys.
