Having an older brother is a risk factor for boys.

It's very very normal. My brother is 3 years younger and he was a pest for a while, until he started high school. We're very close now.

It doesn't matter. Nurture can mold what nature gives you. FWIW, I have an older brother and I'm .... whatever the term is for the opposite of a risk-taker.

My husband is the oldest of 3 boys (all born within 4 years so very close in age) and you could write a book about birth order on them - they fit every single description.

Hmm, my older boy is not compassionate towards his younger sister, but I assume its an age thing (10 and 7).

yes, it's obviously anecdotal, but there are definitely patterns amongst our extended family.

I know it's only anecdotal, but boys with sisters, especially if the sisters are older, are much calmer. I have two boys, and my youngest is a competitive firecracker, type A on steroids. My H has been coaching sports for years and noticed that the boys with older brothers are very driven and competitive. This holds true for my youngest don.

My brother grew up with 2 older sisters and is very misogynist and can be violent.

I'm female and was the oldest, and oddly enough almost all of my relationships have been with men who were the youngest of two brothers. They all had issues with toxic masculinity, feelings of inadequacy, and couldn't function well in relationships.

The best boyfriend I had something like 6 sisters (he was the only guy....and the baby). He was fantastic with women. Too fantastic, because I found out he was seeing women other than me, lol.

I am one of 8; 3 boys, 5 girls. We're all different. One of my brothers is a chauvinist jerk while the other two are kind men who support their families and are hands on their homes. My sisters and I are all quite different from one another.
I have two boys and they are both kind and compassionate (so far). People are who they are.

I preface this with I'm not a parent yet, but I frequently hear that boys with sisters are more compassionate. Girls with brothers, specifically older brothers are bolder, more likely to take risks. What are your thoughts and experiences?
