Definitely will be handing out candy and taking my kids trick or treating. Why not?

Heck yes! It’s totally doable - just leave a bowl out and sit 10’ away and say hi to the kids. Our neighborhood has already communicated that it will be happening for people who want to participate. Most neighbors sit out with bonfires anyway so we will just make small changes.

We usually do a parade, but will likely cancel that and our neighborhood party.

I am going to give it a shot and take my kid downtown, maybe at least some businesses will hand out the candy. Maybe people also. If notbing in our downtown I plan to take him to some well known spots in the neighboring towns.
I mean, something somewhere must be “open”!

Teaching them to act responsibly in a pandemic is not failing our kids. Its responsible parenting.

Your kids will survive not trick-or-treating for a year. I live in NJ and we had to cancel Halloween two years in a row in 2011 (freak snowstorm) and 2012 (Superstorm Sandy). The kids were fine!

We will not be participating. I don't want you kids coming to my door nor will mine do it. We do it every year but not this year. I'm not leaving candy out as it never works.

This question has been asked at least 3 times this summer!

Halloween is the day of the year when this world and the spirit world are closest together, hence the various spites and goblins that visit us. It has been celebrated in one form or another for centuries.

IT CANNOT BE CANCELED.

On the other hand, trick or treating can. Muster up some creativity and celebrate in your own way, instead of thinking an important holiday disappears just because your way of celebrating it cannot happen exactly as it's happened in the past.

Really, OP.

I’m sure DD’s preschool will still do costumes and their parade, with parents distanced and in masks. Trick or treating could be fine, as long as everyone is in masks and hand sanitizes.

I figured (hope) people would leave candy on the porch

Can’t imagine there will be Halloween. I think the fact that cvs started selling Halloween candy a month ago is a sign. Everyone is trying to unload their candy because otherwise they’ll be selling 75% of it for 75% off in Nov 1.

Cox Farms is cancelled. Assuming trick or treating will be cancelled. The stores are already full of Halloween decorations and candy.
