But more flexibility. My kid was lonely this spring and I'm not sure how we're going to avoid that most days, but he could play legos, watch tv, etc., with no time urgency if I was on a call.

So I guess you'll be fine with it when your child's teacher has to leave in the middle of a teaching session to help his/her child with his LD learning?

Well my kid isn’t like yours and is not disciplined enough for this. This schedule plus us working is just going to make them fall further behind..,,,

my job is flexible, but not flexible enough that I can be interrupted 5x/day to make sure my kid logs on to the computer.

Haha I am a teacher so I have core work hours and an “all day job” I guess? That’s a new phrase for me!

Some people clearly have make work jobs where you produce nothing and their main task is to keep the grift rolling.

In the same boat OP. I’m going to make sure my DS (8) logs in in the morning for attendence, and the rest is up to him and the school. I’ll probably get some kind of alarm too.

Some of us have core hours. Which just happen to be during the school day. Which makes it impossible to both do your job and be available to direct the education of a young elementary student. While I’m not actively in calls or meetings all day, I am expected this o be available during my work hours when my manager calls me. Blowing him off so I can log my 6 year old into yet another distance learning session is not acceptable. Plus, I’m actually expected to produce a work product. When the distance school day is all day long with 5-10 minute breaks plus a lunch period, it looks like I would need to facilitate logging into sessions every 15-45 minutes throughout the day. I don’t generally work in 15-45 minute increments, but maybe you do?

Headphones for your kid and for you? You can keep an eye on them but don’t need to listen and take your own phone calls.

OP, what grade? I agree that older elementary kids should be able to handle much of this on their own but I know our 1st grader won't be able to make transitions between activities without our active involvement.

The schedule builds in movement breaks, lunch, etc. I always anticipated that it was supposed to approximate the school day.
