Be very careful about the fabric. I have a lightly used sofa that started to pill within the first year and stains very easily. We keep a sheet over it to try to protect it, but I plan to get rid of it in a few years when we move - definitely not a piece that will last!

I have two, one sofa in the living room and one sectional in the family room.

I like the look for the price. I think they are comfortable and have held up well, but the best quality and looking sofa we have is from Room and Board. It might be more expensive, but I would buy from there if you are concerned about quality.

FWIW, we also have one west elm bed and one room and board bed (both upholstered). The west elm bed has been great for 10 years, and the r and b for the past 5.

I thought about it last week and then read the online reviews and couldn’t pull the trigger. There are SO MANY scathing stories, and I particularly didn’t like west elm’s quote that their sofas last “1-3 years.” WTF? I ended up buying a couch that’s part of the Lucy line (cheaper) at Ethan Allen. It was a little more but I have more faith in the brand. Hasn’t come yet, so we’ll see.

Read people’s west elm horror stories before proceeding. For example, I had a headboard delivered July 9. They didn’t include necessary hardware. They’ve now shipped me incorrect hardware twice. I’ve asked about returning the headboard but they won’t take it back because it is custom. They have told me they will discuss “compensation” once my issue is resolved. Check out their @ on twitter for more horror stories, like couches delivered without legs!

I’m
Happy with it. It’s in the basement and the kids mostly use it.

We love ours.

It’s in our basement which is set up for my teen/young adult children entertain a lot and do all their school work.

My designer picked it.
