No woman of quality will truly care about the size of her ring.

These comments are so stupid. You have no idea what Ops financial situation is.

OP here. She had smaller hands but her fingers are a little short and chubby.

It depends on what she does and how she uses her hands; a bigger stone can get caught on things, scrape against things, etc. Personally, I think a better quality 1.5 carat would be better, quality over quantity! 1.5 is still big enough to be impressive, especially if it's good quality with amazing sparkle. I myself have 1 carat, which around here is considered small but it's perfect for me

I have long skinny fingers. My ring size is 5. My engagement ring is a 1.3ct and perfect size. Anything bigger would just look ridiculous. Also I have babies and change diapers all the time. I don’t want to scratch the baby.

It really depends on her hands. I have larger hands with long fingers, so a smaller stone is lost on me. Conversely, if she is petite with tiny hands, 1.5 may look large enough for her.

At least 5. Don’t be cheap.

+1. I’m tall and have long fingers. One carat looked ridiculous. I have a 3 carat ring and it looks proportionate and not tacky at all.

So hard to say. My engagement ring was just over 2. When I got it in my 20s, I wore it all the time. 25 yrs later it just sits in my jewelry box. I haven't worn it since the kids were born.

1.5 is better unless she has large hands. If it is too big relative to the size of her finger it will look tacky regardless of the quality.

If the 2 is truly good enough then the 2. 2 is not too big but on a round diamond more than 2 would be too big, in my opinion.

I'm looking at rings for my girlfriend. I was looking at 1.5-2 carat round diamond. Is 2 carat too big? Should I stick to a really nice quality 1.5 carat? Both will be good quality but the 1.5 carat will be slightly better. What would you prefer?
