My favorite detail from the nymag piece is that the business admin was literally writing school checks to cover her various mortgages! Checks to a local bank were seemingly inconspicuous ... for a while.

The parts about the board caring more about the town’s perception (and real estate values) and their own reputations (looking like fools) was pretty spot on. You can see how something like this can happen AND get swept under the rug.

I thought it was really good - Hugh Jackman was great, of course. Doing some reading, the female business admin has passed away and superintendent is now out of prison and still collects a whopping $175,000 public pension until he croaks. He also claims the side relationship he had in the movie was fabricated, as was the entire part about the student journalist.
