So next opportunity for a casual conversation, say “hey, I have a question. We both took down our profiles but never really discussed what that means. What does it mean for you? “

Is it OK over dinner?

Exclusive is starting a relationship to me, meaning we aren't going to be dating or sleeping with other peole, a relationship usually grows from that

What's a typical timeframe for talking about exclusivity and what do you usually talk about

A month or so

For me, the convo has to happen before I sleep with a guy. I don’t sleep with guys for at least a month or two and in my experience they’ve all raised the exclusivity issue

Is there too long to wait? Is it ok to bring it up while out to dinner? Any tips for the conversation?

Personally I don’t like discussing things like that at dinner. I’d rather it be in the privacy of one of our apartments or houses.

I don't think it matters just bring it up!

dating = sex with others still okay
relationship = sex with others may or may not be okay
exclusive = agreement in place that sex with others is NOT okay

You don't start one. If he wants to be exclusive he'll make sure you know.

Dating - showing romantic interest, getting to know each other.

Relationship - clear interactions ongoing and expected. Possibly casual platonic or sexual.

Exclusive - only you two and no one else.

You can have a lot of fun and mix up all three for your own funky little definition, OP!

What are the different between the three? Are all three explicitly defined when you're with someone? Does the guy usually initiate each?
