Make him go to AA. If he doesn't stop drinking, leave him. The humiliation will be huge when the shit hits the fan, since he is in public office and will be torn apart in public.

The idea is that he'll hesitate in the future because he won't want to have to splash out again.

Sometimes men love their wives, but think with their penis. This is a good way to give him some motivation to stay away.

The trick is not to hold onto resentment. And make sure the thing you pick out is at a price point that you can think to yourself, he wouldn't be able to spend this money on anyone else.

I'd separate, and see if he'd get help for his drinking, publicly apologize to her and to the public, etc. If he would, then we MIGHT reconcile. Otherwise, divorce.

I am curious. An acquaintance is a lawmaker in a different part of the country and sexually harassed one of his staffers at an after-work get together at a bar. He was drunk and repeatedly asked this young female staffer to go back to his hotel room with her and said he’d follow her home. It was a very public incident. Would you leave or stay?
