DS -- a college student home because of Covid-- just informed us yesterday that he was cited for having a fake ID. Luckily, it was in his own name with the just the date of birth changed, so it is not a felony. He learned his lesson, I hope, but it is going to involve a court date and paying for an attorney.

Whose parents would know this? I had two fake IDs as a teen, but certainly didn't tell my mom and dad.

I found DD20’s fake ID. It’s from PA and she’s a VA college student.

She turned 21 days later.

DD wants a career in Fed Gov.

Oh- I am a Fed so it can’t be me. Records expunged. Pleasing down should not have affected your friends career —-especially something that young.

I was arrested for fraud at age 20 with a fake ID. It caused my parents a boatload of $. I had to come home from college for an arraignment trial because it was a Felony charge. Scary as f@ck.

They did get charges dropped and I had 250 hours of community service.

Identity theft is stealing someone elses identity. Having a fake ID with a fake name and dob is not the same thing.

Kids buy them off the internet and usually get two. If you find one, ask your kid for the second one as well.

I’m learning how many do. My teen is 17. We took away and punished first time we found. It’s now second time
And I’m thinking about saying, clearly you are going to keep getting one so I’m not gonna play cat and mouse. However, know that if you get arrested, we will not be paying for an attorney.
