I'm Jewish so my son had a bris, but it was actually quite quick and there was minimal crying. I think I cried more than my son.

I watched my nephews because I was curious. It was traumatizing.

OP, depending on where you are, we had a pediatric surgeon who is also a mohel circumcise both our boys when they were about six weeks old. It was very straightforward and they healed quickly and easily. If you're in Montgomery County, I highly recommend him: Dr. Louis Marmon.

I’m Muslim too. My OB (Jewish) did my son’s circumcision while we were still in the hospital with no issues.

My OB did my son’s circumcision in the hospital the day after he was born.

Had a positive experience with getting it done by my OB. They do it in their office after birth (2.weeks for us).

Either way is fine.

You should schedule an appointment with a Pediatric Urologist, if you're concerned about experience with circumcision. You don't need to seek a mohel for one to be done correctly.

Thank you. My apologies for the mix up in terminology. Does the mohel do circumcisions for Jewish persons only or for anyone? Also how can I find one? I just search on google? One other question sorry. Why did you pick a mohel and not an obgyn? Is it because you believe that the OBGYN won’t do it correctly or is it because it is required religiously to go the mohel? I just moved to America with my husband in November and I am now pregnant with a boy. I’m Muslim and circumcision is required religiously and culturally. Back home the pediatrician is the one who does the circumcision but my OBGYN told me that she can do it. Is this common practice? My neighbor is Jewish and she told me that OBGYNs don’t do circumcision correctly and she recommends going to a Jewish brise (forgive me if this isn’t the right word) that is also a doctor. I understand that for Jews just like Muslims circumcision is required. However I think that they are more strict than us since for us it isn’t a religious ceremony but done quickly by the pediatrician. I am confused over what I should do as I don’t understand the medical system here. Please advise. Thank you.
