OP, my neighbor is the same way. It's so ridiculous. I heard about teachers traveling all over the country during the summer but then crying, terrified about returning to school (this was before a distance-learning announcement). Ugh.

I’ll judge away since they are big DL advocates impacting the school decision. They aren’t keeping their choices just about their family, they are imposing it on others.

And they didn’t want to come off as the mean parents to their children who would want to go to school if it was in person.
I just find it hypocritical that pushed for DL due to the risk but they let their children wander the neighborhood interacting with dozens of families.

Because people are full of crap. Covid is the excuse to do whatever you want.
We are somewhere where parents can choose in person and DL. Every parent I know who has chosen DL has a random non-covid excuse like bullying, school starts too early, kid is introvert. Several kids who chose DL have siblings going in person.

Who the hell debates Covid protocols with their neighbor?

Every single paranoid person who also went around virus shaming - was hypocritical. Every single one I came across.

We have neighborhood friends that are absolutely paranoid about Covid. They are advocating for 100% distance-learning, and when I try to debate with them, they go on about picking who should die.
But their 12 year old and 10 year old go around the entire neighborhood, knocking on doors to see who can play. They go inside neighbors houses. The do sleepovers at other neighbors houses. They just had a large birthday party sleepover at their house.
So, COVID is too dangerous for school, but fine for the kids to go into a dozen different houses to play, where parents still go into work because they are essential?
