I ended up not using them, but I talked to "My Nanny Agency" this spring and they seemed solid.

Stay away from ABC. Huge mistake for my family, the nannies were both complete disasters. The first nanny didn’t know how to bathe a child, and the second lied to us repeatedly about what she was doing all day. They also both expected to be paid as 1099s or under the table (obviously both are illegal). These major red flags would have been discovered in an interview, and I would never have hired them. Needless to say they were both fired. I wish there was an easy way to recoup the money, but I didn’t even care, I wanted those people away from my child. I wound up interviewing 5 or so people from care.com and chose a nanny I completely adore. If I were you, I’d keep at it.

Last I knew, it was dependent on whether you were looking for temporary or permanent. Temporary (up to 50 days) is a flat fee to the agency per day that the nanny works (I think it’s $40). Permanent is the lesser of 10% of the nanny’s yearly salary or $2000.

Right now, anyone who has been furloughed and has babysat as a teen is on care or FB groups or other platforms claiming that even though they are flight attendants/realtors/MBA candidates/chemical engineers they are also experienced nannies.

Hopefully agencies will not choose to place these types of “nannies”. Wherever you look, demand a resume and references that show actual nanny experience.

Does anyone have experience (good or bad) using a nanny agency like Nanny Poppinz, White House Nannies, etc.? We have posted an ad on care.com and responded to some neighborhood listserv postings and haven't been impressed so far--candidates seem to be lacking basic skills/qualifications (e.g., no CPR/first aid training, not up to date on vaccinations, etc.).
