Although I guess if they showed up for any part of the day it would be tardy or maybe even present.

I would not care. I have to mark them absent. I don’t know what will happen then.

Ok but after 15 absences, your child will be unenrolled from school.

+ 1. What part of attendance and grades do you not understand?

I asked my DW and she said, “I don’t care. I’ll just have to mark them absent. That’s the time they can build relationships though.” It was just a matter of fact statement.

I don’t know if I’d be ok with it. Part of me thinks if I am taking the time to do Morning Meeting it would be nice for everyone to attend. DL isn’t something I want to do, but I’ll make the best of it. The other part of me is just settled on doing whatever I am told I have to do and letting administration handle the rest.

I assume you have a young child.

It’s not up to us. Whatever the consequences will or won’t be from not showing for distance learning are set at much higher levels than us.

I know they’ve said attendance is mandatory, but I don’t see how they can enforce this. For ES, these kids are going to be on their own a lot more than normal, trying to log in while parents are teleworking, or with a babysitter, or home alone, or at some camp. What if the internet doesn’t work or they simply forget, or what if they get kicked from a session (this happened a couple times randomly to my 5th grader last year) or any number of issues?

As a teacher, one of my biggest question is how they will handle "absences" this fall. In the spring, I spent many hours a week trying to stay in touch with parents who had no intention of ever logging in. I won't have time to harass parents with the fall schedule. Admin needs to do that.

Not a teacher, but our school is having morning meeting even on Mondays and said attendance would be taken even on Mondays, so there could be some implications of skipping.
