Bowser/Ferabee said during a press conference that attendance is mandatory according to the same rules as normal. So I guess if you don’t log-in, it becomes an unexcused absence.

Weird. Then homeschool. They aren’t tracking your movements or monitoring you, they are simply keeping track of log-in data 🙄

Our charter told us they will have kids create some sort of record of participation, like a small item of busywork I guess, for various parts of the day. Very depressing to have one more pointless task to inflict on them.

Well it says 2020-2021 not 2019-2020. So, it should be for this coming school year.

So they are requiring "1 touch point" of attendance per day but also.

"percent (80%) of the full instructional day, or in attendance at a school-approved activity that constitutes part of the approved
school program for that student.”.
So, a school could complete allow independent work, with workbooks, reading, or other websites. There would simply need to be some type of log or sharing of the work being done with teachers.

So, does anyone know where to find the actual OSSE DL attendance policy?? I would like to be able to read the actual rules from the source.

Hearing the attendance rules have been changed from Spring and are more strict. But then some of that is also probably school by school. If a school only has 1-2 live sessions on a given day then the rest of the day isn't really counted.

Interesting ours ITDS was trying to say that kids have to be checked in on the "Live Classes" multiple times per day as well as other learning sights??? I am guessing they mean if reading or math requires 30 min on kidsAZ or whatever that will be checked??? Which I don't like I would much rather keep a list of books we are reading at home than make my kid look at a screen for even LONGER each day. But then ITDS seems to be trying to be very "EXTRA" with the screen time.. they are implying they will have a LOT more screen time than the 1-3 hours DCPS's requirement for elementary.

So, we are hearing OSSE has already put our attendance requirements with Multiple attendance checks throughout the DL Day??? Where are these requirements printed?
