This is so sweet! I remember DS naming every dessert we'd allow him to taste as "happy", pronounced "appy" and huge giggle.

Now, at 17, he doesn't shut up...politics, Trump jokes, stock market, vibin, chillin, valid as affirmations ughhhh

True but the reading explosion can also happen much younger.

It is nothing short of miraculous! My toddler laughs with glee when he hears a new word and then repeats it!

You will be working with them and working with them, and then, BOOM, age 6 and they can just read. Remember this.

Never happened for us. At least not that way. Language delay at age five here. Lots of progress though!

Don’t worry! Oldest DS was speech-delayed (but understood every word you said) and then one day just before two he was speaking in sentences.

It is truly amazing. One day they are saying single words and the next full sentences. Crazy!

Ha ha! So true! My parents have a home video of me saying, "Oh shit!" at 18 months old because I dropped a toy on the carpet. My mom also still tells me about the time when I was two and yelled, "Mother f*****!" from the back seat of our minivan when somebody cut us off in traffic. I learned most of my curse words from driving in NJ with my parents and from watching Yankees games with my dad.

Yesss. And you correct them and they get it right so quickly. Like I corrected Ds from “nap” to “napkin” and now he says it right. Their brains are awesome.

It is! Watch out for swearing- they pick that up immediately too! I slammed my finger in the window and let out with a “gd it” and that had DD immediately pick it up and use it correctly!

Suddenly my 21 month old has gone from single words to phrases. And it literally picking up and using every word he hears once. I was told this was coming but... wow, it really is remarkable.
