yes, SFL exists because there aren't enough kids playing rec at those ages to keep it within the club. They aren't going to close shop just because one league isn't going forward

So you think they will just do soccer for u10 and under and say sorry too bad to the older kids ?

yes. The vast majority of rec participants are in that age category and for clubs like Loudon and McClean, those U8 and under players are their future travel players (and travel fee payers). I doubt they cancel everything because of SFL cancelling. I could be totally wrong though

Yes, McLean and Loudoun are also applying the VYSA Return to Play guidelines the same way.

I thought about that also but there does seem to be conflicting messages with VHSL and NCAA classifying soccer as high risk. I guess it depends on which guideline the league is willing to follow.

maybe, enough people would have to be willing to pay dues to still cover facilities and other fixed costs for that to work.

Even the nonprofit community sports leagues (like CYA or BRYC) can't oay any staff or maintain fields etc without any income and most of their popular sports are things like soccer, basketball, football ec. that are most likely to be canceled.

they may be right, but if phase IV is the benchmark to reopen, most area club will be gone by the time we restart. How many have the assets to weather a year of no income?

SFL makes some solid points. I think it might be a sign of things to come with other leagues regardless of what people want/think.

SFL isn't a money making operation. Travel sports are. Different motivations.

What does this mean for the travel leagues?

Here's a link to their explanation:
